We implement our own sustainability programmes and have integrated sustainability into our strategy

Sustainability at Speeki

As a provider of ESG and sustainability solutions, these principles are embedded in our business and applied in our day-to-day operations.

We follow a structured approach using our own sustainability model, which we also recommend to clients. We have conducted a materiality assessment across more than 20 risk areas and identified clear priorities. The focus areas below reflect our risk-based assessment and should always be considered in context.

Key issues include Whistleblowing, Risk Management, Health & Safety, Data privacy & information security, Bribery & Corruption, Ethics and Integrity, Compliance, and Transparency. Importance and materiality are not the same. Many issues are important to how we operate, but fewer are material for disclosure.

How we address sustainability across our business

  • A small green plant growing in the hollow of a tree stump in a sunlit forest.

    Biodiversity

Biodiversity underpins healthy ecosystems and climate stability. As businesses affect ecosystems directly and through their supply chains, assessing and managing biodiversity risk is essential.

Speeki’s direct environmental footprint is limited, but we consider biodiversity in our supply chain and business decisions. We promote sustainable practices and work with suppliers who share our standards to avoid contributing to ecosystem degradation.

  • A power plant with cooling towers emitting steam, situated in a flat, green landscape under a blue sky with scattered clouds.

    Climate change

Speeki views climate change as a cross-cutting business challenge, not a standalone environmental issue. We consider both physical risks from severe weather and transition risks arising from policy and technological change.

As a software and consulting business, our direct footprint is limited. Our focus is on reducing air travel, using lower-impact hosting solutions and minimising greenhouse gas emissions across our operations.

  • A hand holding a glass sphere reflecting a forest scene with trees and blue sky.

    Nature

Businesses depend on natural resources directly and through their supply chains. Managing environmental impact therefore requires attention to climate, water, energy and biodiversity.

Speeki has reduced air travel, does not operate company vehicles and works primarily from shared offices in environmentally conscious buildings. We minimise paper use and restrict single-use plastics and non-recyclable materials in our offices to reduce resource consumption.

  • A worker in an orange safety uniform and hard hat standing with hands on hips, overseeing a large pile of mixed recyclable waste in an industrial recycling facility. A conveyor belt is dropping waste onto the pile."

    Waste

Waste management involves collecting, processing and disposing of waste responsibly. Managing it sustainably reduces negative impacts on the environment and human health.

Speeki’s approach focuses on reducing resource consumption, reusing materials where possible and minimising waste. We generate limited waste in our business and are increasing recycling across our operations.

  • Wind turbines on a lush green hillside overlooking a valley and distant mountains under a clear sky.

    Energy

Although the clean energy innovation movement began years ago, following greater awareness of greenhouse gases and their effects, its efforts have recently been bolstered by government incentives and increased attention from the global news media.

At Speeki, we work from environmentally aware buildings. Even though most of our operations are in shared offices or conducted from home, we are committed to using less energy whenever possible.

  • Person in protective clothing and gloves holding a beaker with clear liquid near a body of water, possibly conducting water testing.

    Pollution

Pollution, whether in the form of air, water or land contamination, poses environmental and health risks. Effective management is essential to support sustainable operations and protect ecosystems.

At Speeki, we seek to reduce our environmental footprint. Although our direct impact is limited, we promote pollution control within our supply chain, prioritising sustainable materials, waste reduction and energy-efficient practices.

    People

Human capital management (HCM) covers how an organisation recruits, develops and manages its people to support performance and growth. Unlike administrative HR functions, HCM includes strategic elements such as workforce planning, analytics and performance management to ensure the right skills are in place.

At Speeki, we are a small team focused on doing the right thing for our people. As we grow, we will scale and formalise this approach to maintain a supportive and productive work environment.

    DEI

As awareness of diversity and inclusion grows, so does the business case for embedding diversity, equity and inclusion within organisational management systems.

At Speeki, diversity strengthens our performance. We value diversity in thought, culture, language, race and gender, and more than 65% of our team are women of Asian, Hispanic and Caucasian descent.

    Supply chain

A value chain describes the full range of activities required to create and deliver a product or service. For a services company like Speeki, this includes development, marketing, sales, support, as well as supply chain and partner management.

Speeki has conducted a value chain analysis by reviewing the procedures across each stage of our business. Our assessment indicates a low ESG risk, as most services we procure relate to development resources and technology support.

  • A smiling woman wearing a blue volunteer shirt holding a clipboard at an outdoor community event with other volunteers in the background.

    Community

Speeki looks beyond our own business and seeks to be an active stakeholder in society over the long term. In addition to charitable giving, we are strong supporters of ESG and the impact it can have, and we will continue to raise awareness of the ESG cause. This is our way of making the corporate world more responsible.

We are interested in supporting the markets we operate in by providing services and our platform on a no-cost or low-cost basis for charities and groups focused on helping communities.

  • People standing in a protest holding a sign that reads 'Every Human Has Rights'

    Human rights

Respecting and supporting human rights remains one of the most challenging areas of corporate sustainability. Speeki has communicated our zero tolerance for any form of modern-day slavery, forced labour or human trafficking in any part of our business or supply chain. Our assessment indicates that this is a very low risk for Speeki; however, we continue to monitor the situation because it is crucial.

Speeki uses its own tools to manage aspects of these risks through the Speeki Platform.

    Health and safety

Health and safety are critical to employee wellbeing and directly affect productivity and morale. Providing a safe and supportive environment is therefore essential for any organisation.

At Speeki, compliance is an ongoing process designed to protect and strengthen our business. We do not engage with government officials, operate in highly regulated sectors or deal in cash or cash equivalents. We do not sell to government departments, provide lavish gifts or entertainment, or fund client-related travel.

Our anti-bribery framework is aligned with ISO 37001.
